Worth Knowing
Born to meet homologation standards for motorsport, only 1,580 examples were ever produced. Of those, a small fraction were finished in white with red stripes, a colour scheme synonymous with the racing spirit of the era.
This one is described as a near-original example and a true benchmark Carrera RS, cherished by a single family for much of its life. It currently wears 16 inch Fuchs wheels and a Nardi steering wheel, but the original 15 inch wheels and the factory steering wheel are included, so it can go back to stock.
The 2.7 litre flat-six produces 210 horsepower. Against a kerb weight of 2,370 pounds that was good for 0 to 60 mph in 5.6 seconds. The ducktail spoiler was not decoration: it was there to improve aerodynamics and high speed handling.
